Contrast of aboriginal dreamtime story and geologists creation story:
By comparing the aboriginal dreamtime formation story and the geologists formation theory of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, one thing becomes very apparent. They are not similar at all. Whilst the Aboriginal dreamtime creation story is most probable to be a "myth". The scientific elements of the geologists theory of the formation of Uluru and Kata Tjuta is probably correct.
How are the two theories different?:
There are several different dreamtime stories on the creation of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. One of the stories is that two boys were playing in the mud. Their bodies were preserved in mount Connor on the eastern tip of Uluru. Another story is about the rock python people. These people were attacked by the poisonous snake warriors. The scars left after the battle such as "spear heads" can be seen on the south-west face of Uluru. The local Aboriginals say that Kata Tjuta is home to Wanambi. The dark lines on the side of Kata Tjuta are of his beard and the wind that blows through the gorge is his breath. This is of course not similar in any way to the geologists theory where 550 million years ago, granite mountains to the south were eroded and sedimentary rocks were deposited in a low area of central Australia. Then about 400 million years ago these rocks were pushed upwards and folded to form a large mountain range. Since then this mountain range has been eroded to form a series of smaller mountains, made up of vertical layers of sedimentary rocks. These rocks were much harder that the surrounding rocks which were weathered and eroded. The remaining rock formed Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
